Potrero Chico Weather

The weather in Potrero Chico can change quickly. The main climbing season is between October and March. The average high in the winter is about 61°F (16°C) with lows around 32°F(0°C).

The rainy season is September-October, but you should always have a look inside the Potrero, just because it’s raining outside of the canyon doesn’t mean it’s raining inside. In fact most of the time it’s not. Potrero Chico has it’s own microclimate.

In the summer it can reach as high as 107°F (42°C). You can always find routes in the shade though.
